Standing at a staggering 600 meters (1,968 feet), Canton Tower is the undisputed landmark of Guangzhou. Affectionately known by locals as the "Slim Waist" (小蛮腰) due to its elegant, twisted architectural design, it offers the most breathtaking views of the Pearl River and the sprawling city skyline.

If your goal is sightseeing and capturing the perfect photos, 2 to 3 hours is plenty of time to explore the main observation decks and enjoy the Ferris wheel.

Essential Information & How to Get There

  • Getting There: The easiest way to reach the tower is via the Guangzhou Metro. Take Line 3 or the APM Line and get off directly at Canton Tower Station (Exit A).

  • Operating Hours: 9:30 AM – 10:30 PM (Last entry is at 10:00 PM).

  • Recommended Visit Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. This specific window allows you to catch a three-in-one panoramic view: the vibrant daytime cityscape, a golden sunset, and the dazzling night lights.

Ticket Options

  • Cloud & Star Sightseeing Ticket (150 RMB): Includes access to the 428m and 433m observation decks and the glass skywalk. This is the ideal choice for first-time visitors.

  • 450m Outdoor Platform Ticket (228 RMB): Includes basic sightseeing access plus the 360° open-air observation deck.

  • Ferris Wheel Combo (298 RMB): Includes everything above plus a ride on the world's highest horizontal Ferris wheel. Highly recommended during sunset.

  • 488m "Top of the Tower" Combo (398 RMB): The all-inclusive pass featuring the outdoor observation deck and the Sky Drop. This is the top choice for photography enthusiasts.

Insider Itinerary & Tips

  • Weather Check: A clear day paired with an evening visit is the winning combination for spectacular views.

  • The Golden Hour Strategy: Aim to ascend the tower between 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM. Start by taking daytime photos on the indoor sightseeing floor, hop on the Ferris wheel right before sunset (one full rotation takes 20 minutes, offering breathtaking twilight views), and then enjoy the illuminated night skyline from the outdoor platform directly after you finish the ride.

  • Skip the Sky Drop: The free-fall ride is extremely short and generally not recommended if you are looking for lasting value.

Alpha Park: High-Altitude Wire Walking

For adrenaline junkies, the tower features an indoor wire-walking adventure park with routes tailored to different thrill levels:

  • Green Line (488 RMB): At 188 meters, this low-difficulty route is ideal for beginners and families.

  • Blue Line (588 RMB): At 198 meters, this offers a medium-difficulty obstacle course.

  • Red Line (688 RMB): At 298 meters, this is the most challenging and stimulating high-tier route.

  • Cloud Walk (388 RMB): The park's signature outdoor skywalk experience situated at 325 meters.

Dining with a View

Want to elevate your experience? The upper levels of the tower (around the 106th floor) are home to luxury revolving restaurants, including Mediterranean buffet and French fine dining options. They complete a full 360-degree rotation every 1.5 hours, allowing you to dine while the city slowly turns beneath you.

What to Do After Your Visit

Once you descend, head directly to Canton Tower Plaza, a shopping mall conveniently located right next to the tower. It is the perfect spot to

rest, grab a meal, and recharge after your high-altitude adventure. Afterward, take a stroll across the nearby Haixin Bridge (a stunning pedestrian-only bridge) or walk to the adjacent pier to hop on a Pearl River Night Cruise to photograph the glowing tower from the water.
