Entrance Comparison: East Gate vs. West Gate
Mount Fanjing has two main entrances. Your choice depends on your physical fitness and travel style.
The East Gate
Access: Visitors can choose a 10-minute cable car ride or hike up 6,600 steps (3 to 5 hours).
Experience: The scenery along the hiking path is uniform. The core attractions (Red Clouds Golden Summit and Old Golden Summit) are located at the top.
Crowds: This gate experiences high visitor volume during peak seasons, requiring queueing and advance booking.
The West Gate
Access: Hiking only. Ascending takes 2 to 3 hours.
Experience: Suitable for hikers. This route offers a wider field of view and varied scenery compared to the East Gate hiking path.
Crowds: Visitor volume is low year-round. No advance reservation is required; tickets can be purchased on-site.
Safety Regulations for Hikers:
Hiking up the mountain is prohibited after 14:00.
Hiking down the mountain is prohibited after 15:00. Visitors must use the cable car to descend after this time.
Tickets and Booking Rules
Tickets must be purchased online up to 7 days in advance using a real-name reservation system.

Sightseeing Bus: 30 CNY (Single trip) / 60 CNY (Round trip)

Entry Time Slots:
Park operating hours are from 7:00 to 15:00.
You must book a specific time slot. You are permitted to enter later than your booked time, but you cannot enter earlier.

Foreign tourists cannot use automated ticket machines and must follow these manual collection steps:
Entrance Tickets: Present the passport used for the booking at the Tourist Center to collect the main entrance ticket.

Tourist Center Cable Car Tickets: Present your passport and order information at the cable car ticket office to collect the cable car ticket.

Weather & Preparation
Mount Fanjing is a high-altitude mountainous area characterized by significant temperature variations and unpredictable weather.
Closures: In the event of sudden weather changes that impact safety, certain attractions and the cable car may be temporarily closed.
Self-Assessment: Visitors should assess their physical condition and the current weather before deciding to proceed with the climb.
Gear: Visitors entering the park please bring appropriate rain gear and warm, windproof clothing.
Recommended Route (East Gate In / East Gate Out)
For efficient time management, the following route covers the core area:
Sightseeing Bus (20 minutes from the entrance to the lower cable car station).
Cable Car (30-minute ascent).
Exit the upper cable car station.
Walk down the wooden plank road on the right side.
Walk up the ascending plank road to Pudu Square.
Hike to the Red Clouds Golden Summit and return.
Walk to the Buddha Worshipping Platform.
Hike to the Old Golden Summit.
Visit the Mushroom Stone.
Return to Pudu Square (Cheng'en Temple).
Take the Cable Car down.

Queue Management at Red Clouds Golden Summit: Access to the Red Clouds Golden Summit requires a virtual queue number. You can scan the QR code to obtain a number at either the Mushroom Stone or Pudu Square.
If the waitlist is under 300 people, stay and queue on-site.
If the waitlist exceeds 300 people, proceed to the Old Golden Summit first and return to the Red Clouds Golden Summit later.
