Event Introduction
Cormorant fishing is a traditional fishing method that has been practiced in China for over a thousand years, especially along the rivers of Yangshuo and Guilin. Local fishermen train cormorant birds to dive into the water and catch fish. A small ring is placed around the bird’s neck, preventing it from swallowing larger fish, which are then collected by the fisherman.
Today, this ancient technique is not only a way of life but also a cultural performance that allows visitors to witness the harmony between man, bird, and river. Watching the cormorants glide through the moonlit waters of the Li River is one of Yangshuo’s most unique and memorable experiences.
