9:00AM: Pick up from your hotel in downtown Chongqing (approx. 2-hour drive to Dazu).
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Baoding Mountain Carvings Exploration
- Marvel at the Reclining Buddha of Nirvana, a 31-meter-long sculpture symbolizing enlightenment.
- Discover the Wheel of Life, a vivid mandala illustrating karmic cycles.
- Admire the Thousand-Armed Guanyin, a gold-gilded masterpiece of compassion.
- Learn the stories behind carvings like Parental Love Sutra, blending Confucian filial piety with Buddhist teachings.
- Stroll the shaded mountain paths, where statues emerge from waterfalls and moss-covered grottoes.
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Local Lunch in Longshui Town
- Dazu Spicy Rabbit or Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetables .
- Sip local barley tea while overlooking terraced hills.
2:00 PM-3:00 PM: Beishan Carvings
- Explore quieter, older carvings from the Tang Dynasty, including delicate Avalokitesvara statues and inscriptions.
