Biking Yangshuo: A Practical Guide to the Ten-Mile Gallery & Yulong River

Biking is the most efficient way to explore Yangshuo’s karst landscape. This guide provides a functional itinerary for a 30km loop covering the Ten-Mile Gallery and Yulong River.


🕒 Trip Overview

  • Duration: 3—5 hours.

  • Distance: Approximately 30km.

  • Best Weather: Overcast (comfortable temperature) or Sunny (requires heavy protection). Avoid rainy days due to slippery paths.


🚲 Transport & Costs

You can rent vehicles near West Street or scenic area entrances. Check brakes and battery levels before leaving.

  • Bicycle: 10 RMB/day.

  • Electric Scooter: 20—50 RMB/day (30 RMB is standard for off-peak days). Fits two people.

🛶 Bamboo Rafting

To combine cycling with rafting, choose the Shuiedi(水厄底) to Gongnong Bridge (工农桥)section.

  • Time: ~40 minutes.

  • Logistics: This section ends at Gongnong Bridge, making it easy to retrieve your parked scooter/bike. Confirm all prices before purchasing.

🍴 Dining Recommendations

Eat near Moon Hill or Gongnong Bridge. Riverside seats offer direct views of the water.

  • Must-try: Beer Fish (Sword bone/Jiangu fish), Stuffed River Snails, Bamboo Tube Rice, and Farmhouse Tofu.


⚠️ Essential Safety & Preparation

  • Road Safety: The Ten-Mile Gallery main road has heavy bus traffic; stay to the right. Yulong River paths are quieter but narrow.

  • Packing List: Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, power bank, and a small amount of cash.

  • Flexibility: Adjust your pace based on interest. The Yulong River path is better suited for photography and resting.
